The central region includes the Seto Inland Sea coastal areas such as Ube City and Yamaguchi City. In Yamaguchi City, "gairo" has been a popular souvenir since the Muromachi period (1333-1573). Unlike "gairo" from other prefectures, the use of bracken flour gives it a chewy texture and elasticity, and its one-of-a-kind flavor has many fans.
